I'm baaaaack

Hey Fashionistas,

First off let me apologize for not posting since Feb. 28th. Things have gotten quite interesting for me since then. To update, I was laid off  my old job but  no worries because I started a new part-time gig as an Event Coordinator for this awesome non-profit organization, Amoeji Consulting. Amoeji is a small event planning company in charge of the Miss Black New Jersey/Miss Black NY Pageant as well as the Nigerian Healthcare Foundation (NHF), Amoeji's non-profit sector. I am the Event Coordinator for NHF and for the past month,
I've been busy transitioning and coordinating the Faces of Hope Banquet, NHF's largest fundraiser dedicated to raising money to enhance Nigeria's healthcare system. You see my boss is Nigerian and her family established the Nigerian Healthcare Foundation as a way to give back to their homeland and enhance Nigeria's healthcare and social welfare reform. Like any country, Nigeria has remote and impoverished areas. Those residing in such locations have limited access to basic necessities, i.e healthcare/hygiene and education.
To help combat this, NHF runs the 'Nigeria Smiles Campaign' to collect hygiene, school, and medical supplies to distribute to patients during NHF's mission trip. Every year NHF assembles a team of healthcare  professionals for a two-week 'mission trip' in West Africa to treat and feed over 400 people, DAILY. This year's mission trip will be July 6-20th. See why Amoeji is awesome? Even though I'm not Nigerian, I'm touched by my boss and her family efforts. They know there's a problem in Nigeria and trying to make change and I respect that. If you want to learn more about NHF visit www.nhfinc.org.

So that's basically why you guys haven't seen a post from me(but I'm back on the ball so I'll be posting regularly)I'm learning a lot about event planning and loving it. I'm meeting and connecting with great people so hopefully this will help me reach my goal of becoming a Publicist.

More posts to come........
